Next Gen NLIS is a new, independent platform being built to transform how authoritative land and property data is accessed and shared across England and Wales. Launching in March 2027, Next Gen NLIS will connect local authorities and other data custodians including the Mining Remediation Authority and HM Land Registry, to search providers through a secure, scalable Trust Framework infrastructure.
A new digital platform being developed by Land Data to modernise how official property search information is accessed and delivered across England and Wales.
Building on the foundations of the National Land Information Service (NLIS), the platform will connect local authorities, search providers and conveyancers through a modern, secure and scalable infrastructure.
A Modern Platform for Official Searches
Next Gen NLIS will provide a single digital gateway for accessing official search information, including Local Land Charges and CON29 data. The platform will operate as a Trust Framework, a set of agreed rules, standards and governance that ensures all participants can exchange data securely, consistently and with confidence.

Next Gen NLIS will provide a single digital platform for accessing Official Search information, including LLC1 (for non-migrated local authorities) and CON29 data. The platform is being built on the Land Data Trust Framework, the first in the sector. This means all users will exchange data securely, consistently and with confidence using a set of agreed rules, standards and governance.
