Introduction to the LLC1 and CON29
Tuesday 25th March, 2pm-3pm
Providing a broad overview of the LLC1 and CON29 processes, including risks and liabilities, this course will give you the tools to understand what a ‘Local Land Charge’ is and why it’s important.
The course was created by late Jan Boothroyd, the country’s leading Local Land Charges expert and author of the well-known book ‘Garners’, and Shirley Crook, Land Data’s expert trainer. The session is held in small groups of up to 10 delegates, allowing for an interactive, personal experience.
THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR:
Those who have very little or no prior knowledge of Local Land Charges, and are about to, or who have very recently joined Local Land Charges teams
Those who have recently joined or are about to join another data provider department
Those taking on a supportive role in Local Land Charges
The course will also provide a useful overview for those managing, but not working directly in Local Land Charges
THE COURSE WILL COVER:
Residential conveyance – high level overview
What is a Search – Official v Personal?
What is a Local Land Charges Register?
Why do local authorities keep and maintain it?
Who is interested in the contents of the Register?
Parts of the Register / Categories & Subcategories
Fees
What is a CON29?
Who is involved in answering the CON29 at the local authority?
The importance of timely and focussed answers
Why is the CON29 considered so important by conveyancing solicitors?
Risks and Liabilities
Who are Land Data and NLIS (National Land Information Service)?

I thought the course was insightful and really good for new starters to gain an insight as to what their new job role will look like.
