NLIS has processed over 14 million searches
Around 290,000 searches are being completed monthly through NLIS.
NLIS covers an estimated 30% of all property searches for residential house sales.
Every local authority (there are 410) process NLIS search requests, 98% of them receive and return searches electronically.
Each NLIS Licensed Channel offers a huge variety of search products.
Thousands of solicitors use NLIS to purchase property searches on behalf of their clients.
History
2008 - C-NLIS changed its name to Land Data cic
2006 - The NLIS project became independent of the government and C-NLIS, a Community Interest Company was created in order to manage it.
In late 2006 C-NLIS appointed search provider Jordans Limited as an additional licensed channel after TOL and Searchflow merged.
2003 - NLIS passed the one million searches barrier.
2001 - NLIS went live in February 2001, processing around 1000 searches per week via connections to over 40 local authorities.
2000 - A 'Hub' licence was awarded to MacDonald, Dettwiler & Associates Ltd and Channel licences were awarded to TM Search, MDA Transaction Online and SearchFlow (for more see About NLIS).
1999 - LGIH (Local Government Information House) formed as the contracting body for the infrastructure licences.
1998 - A 'proof of concept' pilot took place in Bristol. As a result,the government granted funding of £2.3m to develop the project further, lead by a partnership between HMLR (Land Registry) and the IDeA (Improvement & Development Agency).
1992 - NLIS was a central theme of the government's Citizens Charter White Paper.
