C-NLIS launched to develop land and property data access in bid to improve the homebuying process
07.12.06The Council for the National Land Information Service (C-NLIS) was officially launched in London yesterday.
C-NLIS is at the forefront for the e-conveyancing revolution, which is streamlining and improving the home-buying process. It manages NLIS which has been set up to support local authorities (LAs) and other property information holders in England and Wales in their move from manual to electronic provision of property information services. NLIS provides electronic access to all the official sources of land and property information, across the whole of England and Wales, via a number of competing channels. NLIS has recently carried out its 10 millionth search.
C-NLIS has recently expanded its interface to conveyancers with the appointment of an additional licensed channel, Jordans Limited. It will be joining leading online conveyancing search providers, TM Property, Transaction Online and Searchflow.
The organisation was awarded Community Interest Company status in January 2006 in recognition of its commitment to making authoritative and fully comprehensive property search information accessible to the general public and improving the homebuying process.
Imtiaz Farookhi, Chairman of C-NLIS speaking at the launch, which was held at the Butchers Hall in London underlined the organisation's commitment to improving the homebuying process and drive to deliver enhanced community related services.
"As a CIC we have a duty of care to protect and inform the general public."
He comments: " An NLIS search provides the consumer with peace of mind as all searches are up to date and from official sources."
