2012 Winners
Electronic service delivery champion - Wealden District Council
Highly commended - Castle Point Borough Council
This award category honours local land charges teams who make a concerted effort to improve electronic service delivery (ESD). Entrants were evaluated on a scale which measured the methods chosen to promote ESD, the success of those efforts, evidence of documentation or statistics and evidence of positive promotion of NLIS.
Customer satisfaction award for local authority searches - West Devon Borough Council
Highly commended - Torridge District Council
Nominees for this award are made by local authority search customers – solicitors and licensed conveyancers. This category focuses on the level of service the local land charges department offers to its customers and how the customers rate the service in terms of quality, reliability and value for money.
Local land charges customers voted for the local authority that they felt provided excellent customer service. The winner and highly commended authority were chosen based on the number of votes that each department received along with any ad hoc comments.
Most improved NLIS services award - North East Derbyshire Council
Highly commended - Lambeth London Borough Council
The Most Improved NLIS Services Award recognises local land charges departments that have best improved their service between 1 June 2011 and 30 November 2011. NLIS Hub data is used to judge this award.
The judging of this award is based on the following criteria:
Highest increase in the percentage of NLIS electronic search volumes versus other search types (paper, personal, email or other portal)
- Whether an electronic search price is held by the LA
- Highest increase in NLIS electronic return
- Most improved turnaround performance.
Local land charges officer of the year award - Amanda Harcourt, City of London Corporation


Highly commended - Lesley Wain, West Lindsey District Council
This award recognises all personnel working within local land charges or any related department, who have performed their role to a high degree of professionalism throughout the year. Nominations, supported by testimonials, are submitted by colleagues who believe their nominee is worthy of the award.
Best performing NLIS level 3 local land charges department - Waveney District Council in partnership with Suffolk Coastal District Council
Highly commended - South Somerset District Council
This award aims to recognise the best performing NLIS level 3 local land charges department between 1 June 2011 and 30 November 2011. NLIS Hub data is used to judge this award.
The judging of this award is based on the following criteria:
- Highest overall percentage of NLIS electronic search volumes
- Fastest electronic turnaround time
- Whether an NLIS electronic price is held by the LA
- Whether the LA submits data to MyNLIS on a monthly basis.
Best performing NLIS level 2 local land charges department - Guildford Borough Council
Highly commended - North Devon Council
This award aims to recognise the best performing NLIS level 2 local land charges department between 1 June 2011 and 30 November 2011. NLIS Hub data is used to judge this award.
The judging of this award is based on the following criteria:
- Highest overall percentage of NLIS electronic search volumes
- Fastest electronic turnaround time
- Whether an NLIS electronic price is held by the LA
- Whether the LA submits data to MyNLIS on a monthly basis
